About JPMorgan Chase

The largest bank in the United States by assets, with roots tracing to 1799. The Bank of the Manhattan Company, founded by Aaron Burr, is the earliest predecessor. J P Morgan personally organized the bank rescues during the Panic of 1907. The modern bank was formed through mergers of Chase Manhattan, J P Morgan, Manufacturers Hanover, Chemical Bank, and Bank One. Jamie Dimon has led the bank since 2005, navigating the 2008 crisis better than competitors. JPMorgan acquired Bear Stearns and Washington Mutual in 2008 at fire sale prices. The bank has over 4 trillion in assets and operates in over 60 countries.
