Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank
About Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank
ADCB was formed in 1985 from the merger of Emirates Commercial Bank and Federal Commercial Bank. ADCB is the third largest bank in the UAE. The bank is 62 percent owned by the Abu Dhabi government through the Investment Corporation. ADCB merged with Union National Bank and Al Hilal Bank in 2019, creating a larger bank with over 120 billion in assets. ADCB had significant exposure to NMC Health and Finablr, two UAE companies that collapsed in 2020 in massive fraud scandals. ADCB wrote off over 2 billion in exposures. The bank recovered and returned to profitability. ADCB is a major lender to Abu Dhabi infrastructure and real estate projects.
