About African Development Bank
Founded in 1964 with headquarters in Abidjan, Ivory Coast. The AfDB provides financing for development projects across Africa. The bank moved temporarily to Tunis during political instability in Ivory Coast from 2003 to 2014. The AfDB has 80 member countries, including 54 African and 26 non African members. Under President Akinwumi Adesina since 2015, the bank has focused on agricultural transformation, energy access, and youth employment. The AfDB launched the Africa Investment Forum to mobilize private capital. The bank has provided over 100 billion in cumulative financing. The AfDB is one of the few pan African institutions with real financial capacity.
