About Asian Development Bank

Founded in 1966 with headquarters in Manila. The ADB provides financing for development projects across Asia and the Pacific. Japan and the US are the largest shareholders. The bank finances infrastructure, energy, education, and regional cooperation. Under President Masatsugu Asakawa since 2020, the ADB has emphasized climate finance and pandemic response. The ADB has provided over 300 billion in cumulative financing. The bank has been criticized for funding coal projects, though it announced it would stop financing coal in 2021. The ADB plays a key role in financing infrastructure across a region that includes some of the worlds fastest growing economies.
