About Bradesco
Banco Bradesco was founded in Marilia in 1943 by Amador Aguiar. Starting as Banco Brasileiro de Descontos, it grew to serve small merchants and farmers. Bradesco pioneered banking technology in Brazil, installing the first electronic data processing system in 1962. The bank expanded through acquisitions including Banco Itaú BBA and the Brazilian operations of HSBC in 2016 for 17.7 billion. Bradesco has over 50 million customers and 4,000 branches. Amador Aguiar ran the bank until his death at 95 in 1991. The bank created a unique leadership structure with a rotating presidency. Bradesco Foundation supports education and cultural projects.
