Mashreq Bank
About Mashreq Bank
Founded in 1967 in Dubai as the Bank of Oman. Mashreq was the first UAE bank to install ATMs and launch credit cards. The bank expanded across the Gulf region. Mashreq was early to embrace digital banking, launching Mashreq Neo, an online only bank. The bank survived multiple regional crises including the 1990 Iraqi invasion of Kuwait and the 2009 Dubai debt crisis. Mashreq operates in 14 countries including Egypt, Qatar, and Bahrain. The bank is known for innovation in the conservative Gulf banking sector. Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank and Emirates NBD are major competitors in the UAE market.
