About Nedbank

One of South Africas largest banks, tracing roots to 1831 when the Cape of Good Hope Bank was founded. The modern Nedbank emerged from the 1973 merger of Nedbank and the Trust Bank. Nedbank acquired the Isle of Man bank and other international operations. Old Mutual, the insurance company, acquired a controlling stake in Nedbank. The bank was criticized for lending to the apartheid government. Nedbank invested in economic development in post apartheid South Africa. The bank has a strong focus on environmental sustainability and green finance. Nedbank is one of the Big Four South African banks alongside Standard Bank, FirstRand, and Absa.
