Rothschild Banking Dynasty
About Rothschild Banking Dynasty
The Rothschild banking dynasty was founded by Mayer Amschel Rothschild in Frankfurt in the 1760s. Mayer started as a coin dealer and expanded into banking. He sent his five sons to Frankfurt, London, Paris, Vienna, and Naples, creating an international banking network. The Rothschilds financed the British war against Napoleon, the Industrial Revolution, and railways. The London house, N M Rothschild and Sons, remains a respected financial institution. The Rothschilds were the wealthiest family in the world during the 19th century. Their wealth has been subject to enormous exaggeration and conspiracy theories. The family donated extensively to Jewish causes and public works. Nathan Mayer Rothschilds famous quote about buying on the sound of cannons remains debated.
